My Industrial Training

ngek ngek ngek, let's talk about what have i gone through for my first week of industrial training.... it'll be very boring for some ppl because there is quite alot of engineering terms used ar... and things that is not related to what most of you ppl studies... so be warned..... ^^

first of all is i'm surprised with the size of the company which is so super very big and there is so super many workers working for that german company.. It's called infineon and you can find the information of this company online. it's a company that produces chips where you see it everywhere is you care to break your own electrical devices and look into what's in it...

i never thought that a simple electronic unit such as a mosfet or transistors are so complicated to be produced.. it may look very simple as it's something like a black plastics with some legs coming out but actually whatever in that black coloured plastic thingy lies chips with very fine wires. this chips are called dies and it is sticken to a something that they called frames which basically made of copper dibalut with something... those wires are as thin as only 50 microns! microns is err.... micro meter... 10 times power of negative 6 meter... hehe... thinner than your hair... haha.. and the machines that connects these wires to the chips are magnificent!! it's like robot!! damn keng man!! it's like.... machine gun! tuutuutututuututututuut... done, then tutututuuututuututu done... so damn bloody fast...

i work under two engineers.. one is normal engineer and the other is a senior engineer.... i am surprised that these engineers are actuallly very young lo.... babi, one is like 26 or 27 only... the other is like.... 28 or 29 only i think... although they are called engineers, but it seems like what they are capable of is different from my perception of an engineer lo.... my perception is like an engineer suppose to do super duper complicated calculations and keep researching on new technologies all that... but what they do there is like... they receive a project on a newly developed technology and they will procede on how they are going to mass produce it, making sample out of the given specifications (? why is't 'given' ar? i thought engineers suppose to find out all about the specifications themselve wan?) and testing those made samples... hm..... maybe is not their job to do all those calculation lar... cos they are manufactuting engineers...

But it cannot be deny that their knowledge about what they're working on is super duper high.. and they are very clear on what they want to do and can make solid decisions.... another thing that surprises me is that whatever i'm learning now is whatever they are applying! lolz! i always thought that what i'm learning in uni to rubbish... for example, analysis machines like SEM, F sth sth, all that... other than that, there is erm.... SPCs, Control systems, failure analysis, materials, defect analysis, erm... this and that la....

on my first week on my internship i really headache because the engineer tries to actually stuff everything she knows into my head in very little amount of time. she even expect me to help her on doing on her documentations in future!! T,T sad...... but very good lar... i get to learn alot of stuff with that... but the problem is... why so hasty to teach me all that... i'm not genious also... sigh, but i tried my best to catch whatever she gave me lar... and fortunately i can say that i catch about 70-80 percent of what she trying to teach me...

so about my work... my engineer is currently working on a newly product called DrMos... She doesn't really know what is the function of the DrMos lar cos it's not her job also... her job is to produce samples out of the specification and design given, test it, analyse all possible failure of it, and analyse the design weaknesses. actually there is alot more to do about the project wan but i now that i feel sleepy, i cant recall it...so, in order to mass produce the product in future if the customer is satisfied with this DrMos, she have to do setup for the existing machines in the production line... after the setting up is done, then her job as an manufact engineer is done, and she will pass it to the production department to proceed the mass production of the DrMos. So while she is doing all this, she explains to me all the things about this product, what she's doing, and what is the processes to me. and i've learned really alot alot alot of stuff... ah... forget to mention that the wire that connects this chip is actually GOLD! 99% gold if not mistaken.... woo, i always thought that copper and gold has almost the same colour but it turns out to be copper is actually orange in colour while gold is yellow... lolz!

My job given by engineer... to measure the erm.. wire loop heights, the 'ball' diameter of the wire (you may not know what is it and i'm lazy to explain what is it to you, lolz), ball shear, and wire pull force...

another thing that i'm impressed is there are microscope EVERYWHERE!!! hahhahahhahhah! because the chips and the wiring of the chips all very small so microscopes are provided everywhere for the worker to analyse their jobs... lolz

another thing that i find it very interesting is that! ALL THE PRODUCTION LINE ARE ACTUALLY DONE IN ISO CLASS 7 10K CLEAN ROOM! dont mind the iso thing.. it's a clean rooom where you see it in movies! where you have to where smoke and go into a chamber that have erm... blowing holes to blow out all particles on your body before you can go into production line! smoke is an attire that made of special cloth that covers your whole body so that particles or dust from your clothes wont actually fly out to the production line! after you where it you'll feel like you are like a scientist... lolz!

another attire is laboratory attires! where you will have to where erm... silly chef hat.. (not those tall tall wan), doctor's coat, and a rubber slipper... their lab is like.. woooooo... all white colour wan... lolz! and their instruments are crazily expensive! example, one small laser measuring device as small as your palm can cost evenly with a kancil.. i heard the lab assistance says that recently there is a worker droped and spoilt a tranducer (if not mistaken) which is only as big as a small box, and that cost you a BMW... lolz!!! so my engineer warn me to becarefull because all equipments in the company can easily cost up to a waja, wira, or sth... lolz!

there is actually alot alot alot more that i wanted to write about my company wan... but it seems like i've alr writen more than 1000 words alr so i dont think i want to continue lar... hahahaha..

next time i'lll show you the picture of me wearing smoke.. eehhehehhe

hmm... sounds like ur working in the assembly and packaging section of the company?

i did my training in a semiconductor firm too.. but i was in the testing department... which is way waaay more boring than the assembly section.. lol

but i was thankful to not work in the assembly section cause you have to wear the whole bunny suit to enter rite? on the test floor you only have to wear the smock shirt... ;p

friend of JX~~

whoaa nylus, are you spying on all my friends?

Aiks i forgot what I wanted to say last time.. but the summary is something along the lines of , yea, most engineering no need do a lot of calculation wan.. wahahh!!

oh the rest of the stuff i already told you on MSN so lazy wanna repeat. Err that's all.

lol if i remember i write again
